SUMMARY:Garden Tour 2017
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating 28 Years of a New England Tradition\nThe famed Concord spokesman for individualism and self-reliance\, Ralph Waldo Emerson\, once wrote: “When I go into a good garden\, I think\, if it were mine\, I should never go out of it.” This year the Concord Museum is celebrating 28 years of “going into good gardens” on the annual Concord Garden Tour. \nThe Museum’s Guild of Volunteers has organized this pre-eminent garden tour\, an unequalled opportunity both to share in the delights of beautiful and historic private gardens in Concord and to support the Museum’s Education Programs which annually serve over 12\,000 students from 85 Massachusetts communities and 22 states. \nThe Museum’s Garden Tour has become a New England tradition for garden lovers from near and far. The Garden Tour will take place on two days\, Friday and Saturday\, June 2 and June 3\, rain or shine. Each of the private gardens reflects the individual interests and passions of the owners and their families and will inspire both new gardeners designing their first perennial bed and accomplished landscapers with acres of “garden rooms.” The Garden Tour will feature a pop-up shop with refreshments and an “Ask An Arborist” booth\, each at a different garden. \nThe tour of Concord-area gardens is self-guided and self-paced\, beginning each day at 9:00 a.m. and continuing until 4:00 p.m. Garden-goers should arrive at the Museum to pick up their maps prior to starting out. Tickets are good for either or both days\, but each garden may only be visited once.  No refunds; no photography. \nTickets purchased after May 28 or at the door\, $35 Concord Museum Members\, $40 Non-Members.\nOnline registration is now closed for this event\, but tickets may be purchased at the Museum admissions desk\, both Friday and Saturday.

SUMMARY:Patriots' Day 2017
DESCRIPTION:Make the Concord Museum—a gateway to Concord’s history—part of your family’s 2017 Patriots’ Day tradition as we commemorate “the shot heard ‘round the world” with activities for visitors of all ages. \nExplore the Concord Museum’s outstanding collection of treasures from April\, 1775 including the famous “one\, if by land\, two\, if by sea” Revere lantern; a sword from one of the soldiers of the British 10th Regiment; the sword of Minuteman James Barrett; a pair of pistols belonging to Major John Buttrick\, the officer in the Concord Militia who gave the order to fire; and a fife played by a young boy. In the “Defending Concord” history gallery\, discover the part these objects played in the events of the fateful day that began an eight-year fight for independence. \nAs the Concord Annual Patriots’ Day Parade heads through the center of town\, make sure to stop by historic Wright Tavern from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. for more fun and games! Play colonial games and learn about the history of Wright Tavern\, constructed in 1747\, and the role the tavern played on April 19\, 1775. Wright Tavern activities are free and open to the public. \nConcord Museum Patriots’ Day activities are made possible in part with the generous support of the Massachusetts Society of the Cincinnati.
