After Douglass: James Baldwin Documentary
May 29, 2019 at 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
As the culminating event in our Frederick Douglass Community Conversation initiative, the Museum will present a screening of James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket, a film described as “an emotional portrait, a social critique, and a passionate plea for human equality.”
Following the screening of the newly restored documentary, the filmmaker, Karen Thorsen, along with Director of the Concord Museum, Tom Putnam, will discuss Baldwin’s call for equality and its relevance today.
This program is supported in part by the Sally Lanagan Fund and grants from the Concord Cultural Council, the Lexington Council for the Arts, and the Lincoln Cultural Council – local agencies which are supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
