The Shot Heard Round the World: April 19, 1775, a special exhibition at the Concord Museum opening April 18, 2014, reunites an extraordinary assemblage of objects—from the lantern Paul Revere had flashed as a signal, to William Diamond’s drum that summoned the Lexington militia, to James Hayward’s powder horn pierced by the bullet that killed him—that were eyewitnesses to the fateful day that began the eight-year battle for independence. Drawing from the Museum’s remarkable collection and other public and private collections, the exhibition freshly explores the part these fifty objects played, while uncovering the evidence they hold about the events of that epochal day.
